Mom, Help Me! I like her...

My husband and I had decided to get married.  I was living 3 hours away from him, and he was 5 hours away from his mother.  He hadn't seen his mother in 7 years, and I hadn't ever met his mother.  If anyone knows my husband, he LOVES to surprise people!  So here was his surprise.  He brought me to meet his mom, well.... And to tell her we were getting married, but he didn't do it in a normal fashion.  He didn't show up at her house, introduce us, and break the news to her, instead he did it this way!

He contacted his brother with a vehicle and asked him to pick us up at the bus stop.  This was my first meeting of the family.  We got into the back of the truck and he introduced me to his brother.  His brother said, we saw the pictures of her on the facebook.  The pictures were just me sitting in his car.  There was no sign of "love" on them so he didn't know that I was his fiance either.  Ok..  So he tells his brother not to tell his mother.

We drive 1 hour to the countryside in which his mother lives.  He then tells me how this is going to be a huge surprise to his mother for two reasons.. 1. He hasn't seen her in 7 years, and 2. 7 years ago he had a full head of hair and now he chooses to shave it, and 3. He's bringing an American to her house, and 4.  He's going to be marrying her soon! 

So we arrive to the house and his brother and him get out of the pickup truck and leave me in the back seat.  The window are tinted.  I watch as my husband knocks on the door, and a woman opens up the door with the same height and size of my husband.  They fling into one another arms and she's screaming.. YAY my son!! Wow God, thank you for this blessing! Thank you Lord, wow, my son, my son.. God Bless you my son!! Wow! Albertico! Albertico!  and tears are flying.. Then he tells her, no mother no crying, I have a friend in the car that I want you to meet.  It's a girl I have liked for 2 years, but I don't think she likes me.  The reason is... and he pulls off his baseball cap and shows her his bald head..  NO!!!!!! She says and says it's ugly!! Put your hat back on! Oh Albertico that is so ugly why did you do that?! Keep your hat on.  Is the girl in the car?! He says, "Yes!"  Help me convince her to be my girlfriend.  She says.. Oh I have been praying for years my son! Everyday I pray God will bring you the right girl..





She comes to the Pickup truck and opens the door.  It looks as though the door swung open and hit her and she was in pain! She slams the door closed and yesll.. No! Albertico! That is an American! What if she doesn't like Dominicans?! Oh no Albertico! Why did you shave your head?! Its so ugly!  Oh no! He is like Mom, you just closed the door on her!! He opens it up and she says.. omg.. God Bless You! Do you speak Spanish?! and I answer back and say yes.  She invites me to come out of the pickup truck, and Cacique helps me out.  She hugs me, and introduces herself to as his mother, etc.  We go into her house and he says.. Mom, I'm going to wash my face, convince her! 

I take the seat next to his brother, who is smiling but playing with his phone.

She comes over to me and tells me.  "Are you a Christian?!" and I respond "Yes!"

She says. "I have prayed for my son for many, many years that he find a good Christian woman."

I smile as she starts her convincing statement.  lol.

"Each day when I wake up, I pray, Lord, Please help my faithful son to find the woman of his dreams. and each night before bed, I thank him for working on the woman of my son's dreams." she says.  as I sit and smile at her.  "My son is a very serious man, I am not just telling you this because he is my son, I am telling you this because he is a very good man."

I say.. "Yes, he is a very awesome person, we have been good friends for two years, and he has always done so much for me as his friend."

She says.. "Yes!! He is good..  He wants you to be his girlfriend.  What do you say?"

Now going along with the joke I say "Me? His Girlfriend?!" (Now remember we are already engaged to be married."

She says "Yes! He's be a good boyfriend.  He doesn't go out and drink.  He doesn't cheat. He hasn't had many girlfriends.  He's a very good guy, what do you say?"

I said. "Ok."

She jumps up and says "Oh My Lord, THank you! Thank you God! I am so happy!! Wow! Albertico she said yes!! She will be your girlfriend!!!!" 

He's still in the bathroom and says!! Good Job mom!! Now convince her to marry me!!  She says.. "No Albertico start out as her boyfriend, and then one day you can ask her to marry you!!"

He says "Mom, you did such a good job! You did such an awesome job and she may not be here in this country much longer, convince her now to marry me!!"

She walks back out a little sheepishly and says. "My son would make a really good husband.  I don't know if you have any children, but he'd make an awesome father one day.  He's not getting any younger, and he wants to know if you want to marry him.  Will you marry him?"

I said.. "Me? Marry him?!"

She says.. "Yes!" and the silence could be cut with a knife, and she says "What do you say?"

I said.. "Let's get married!!!"

She jumps up again and screams! "I'm so happy!! HAPPY! HAPPY!!! Albertico! She said yes!! She said she will marry you!! She said yes!!! Albertico!! " 

She was so excited.  Cacique comes out of the bathroom sits down in a chair next to me, and she says.. Wow!! When are you getting married? He says.. Maybe March 1st.. And she says.. YEAH!!!!! and he says.. OF NEXT YEAR!  She says.. Oh, Ok.. ok.. :) I said.. "no, no.. we are looking at March of this year.

Long story short.. we couldn't wait 2 weeks to get married, and we married on Valentines Day.  We had planned March 1st, but Valentines Day just seemed like such an awesome date to be wed.  So that is when we did it.. :)
