As I have mentioned before, we live in the Dominican Republic. We were actually living in a more dangerous area called Barahona. It's a more poor area in which desperation calls for desperate measures. The people are trying to survive and there are a lot more robberies and muggings in that area.
My husband is worse than a protective parent. He literally watches my every move. He is more protective of me and the kids than I am of my kids. Let me give you a good example of what I mean.
My husband has a nice Volkswagon Jetta. Before being married to him, me and the girls were used to riding in public transportation. One day I will show you what public transportation looks like in the Dominican Republic, but lets just say, safe is not a word that would be used. Back to my husband. The minute I get in the car, he will say. My Queen, please put on your seatbelt. Or he will say.. My Queen, you haven't forgotten your seatbelt right? Or if he knows I am moody he has learned to say. My Queen, can I help you snap in your seatbelt? lol
It gets better or worse.. whatever way you want to look at it. My husband will keep an eye on me at all times. He will also be making sure to keep an eye on anyone who would approach the car. He has stopped before because a motorcycle was driving along side of us. He wanted to let the motorcycle go ahead. My husband will keep an eye on my arm. You see, there is no AC in the car so the windows are open, but they are not allowed to be opened all the way. If I have the window open all the way, he will say, please would you mind if I just put it up a tiny bit? Please understand my love, I just don't want anything to happen to you, the girls need you. That is his story. The girls need you!
If I put my elbow on the window sil, and grab the top of the car, it's ok as long as I have the handle. If I hold the outside of the door with my hand like many normal people do, he will plead with me to put my hand back in the car. He said it only takes a quick second for something to happen and he would be mortified if anything happened to me, to please understand why he is like this. lol..
He does the same thing with the kids window too. They can't have it even close to down. They need to always stay seated, and he doesn't like them leaning forward. He says he just needs to make sure everyone is safe at all time. Yes, I love him..
